our office
If you haven't been here in awhile, things might look a lil different. Due to the "perfect storm" in February this year, our whole office flooded.
Alphabet Shuffle's waiting area. Plenty of room to sit and relax while waiting for your appointment and plenty of room for the kids to play. Come and visit "McGee" our Red-Eared Slider Turtle and our therapy cats, Junie B. Jones and Max (Snaggle Tooth) Jones.
Miss Sherry creates a sense of serenity and calmness in her room. There are plenty of fidgets to play with, sand to make castles, and of course an endless supply of candy!
Playing with children in therapy is to children what talk therapy is to adults. Play is a child’s language. In the "Kid's Zone", toys, games, activities, and creating art is used like words. They can use dolls, puppets, paints, or other toys to say what they think or how they feel.
Many times difficult things happen in life and even the adults involved have difficulty understanding or explaining the events or their feelings about the events. It is easy to see why children, who lack the verbal skills of an adult, find it even more difficult. Playing, creating art, or journaling allows them the opportunity to work through, heal, and move past the difficult times in their lives.
Family/couple therapy, Mediation, and Girl's group is held in this room. It offers comfortable seating and a warm cozy atmosphere to tackle all those difficult subjects.
The crafting zone is always fully stocked and offers a colorful and inviting environment. Miss Sherry uses a variety of art methods including drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage with clients ranging from young children to the elderly. It allows them to let their imaginations come to life as they work on their personal growth.
